Yesterday on WABC-TV they premiered a new sitcom: “Work It.” It’s about an unemployed guy who gets a job for a pharmaceutical company dressed as a woman. He celebrates with his friends, but can’t tell them about the specifics. One Latino friend, also unemployed, begs him to “hook him up” and says: “I’m Puerto Rican, I can sell drugs.” This is incredible, 2012 and we still have this type of stereotypical negative image being portrayed on national TV.
Boricuas and non-Boricuas, help send a strong message today to the Networks that this is not acceptable. Protests begin tonight at 5:30-5:45PM in front of the WABC-TV studios at 7 Lincoln Square., New York, New York. I’m Puerto Rican and I Don’t Sell Drugs. Spread the word and let’s start the New Year right by defending our community’s dignity.
